Italy: Berlusconi scandal puts parents on the spot, cardinal say

Italy's 74-year-old Prime Minister one more time is involved in a scandal, because of his recently intervention in the arrest of one of his 'personal friends', a 17-year-old girl who used to assist to his parties, where sex games were played and cash or gifts were given. Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi, the archbishop of Milan, acused Berlusconi of put parents in an awkward position. "The most serious problem is for parents who have to explain to their children the meaning behind the photos of kids their own age they see in newspapers", the archbishop said in an interview.

Again privacy and public sphere are in discussion. The issue here is that the Prime Minister's acts have a social impact because of its sexual and scandal nature. Some says that it's his personal life, but we don't have to forget that he is not just a common citizen, but the Prime Minister of Italy. Apparently his behavior will continue been an scandal to several religions and different parties all over the world, but due to his powerful position, there is not much that anyone can do about it, at least until new elections in Italy take place.

  1. What I have noticed through the posts about Italy during this semester is that almost all the time, its Prime Minister is involved in a new scandal. If even he had a good performance as a nation's leader, one could forget his disgraceful behavior, but not even that. His politic has been marked for an extreme conservatism, which contrasts with the progressive ideals defended by the European Union. In summary, I think he is a joke for press, a headache for Vatican and a SHAME for Italy and Europe.

  2. This is one of the man the most saw in italy and most of the time it is for his scandals and it's totally unacceptable. If it has occurred once only we could see it as a awkward action and can be forget but the Italian prime minister is getting bad habits and some one need to react(Mister Napolitano or the European court) and stop his this bad behavior.

  3. It is kind of deja vu. Japanese prime minister has changed every second, and we shamed of that, but he is a shame of Italy and the world as we cannot compare to Japanese prime ministers. I think a person who does not know a common sense cannot control the country. I hope election will be held as soon as possible not to occur the same things more.

  4. To tell you the truth of what do I think about this...

This guy or should I said The Italian Prime Minister, is out of his head not mind the whole brain. His sexual scandals always take the headlines in the international press and HE should stop doing this, he should behave. He is not a common person, he is an important person of the whole country, and it affects not only the reputation of the country of having a "LOCO" as their prime minister, but the whole society, because of his politic that are not well-thought.
