Turkey and Israel are talking about their government relationship and they're saying that their friends but their not enemies.
“I must emphasize that Turkey and Israel are friends,” Gul said at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York today. “There are strong, centuries-old ties of friendships between our people, and Turkey was one of the first countries to recognize Israel in 1949.” According to the article.
----------------------------------------- My opinion about it -----------------------------------------------
My opinion about this article is that israel and Turkey are saying that they're friends just to fool the press, but in reality they are not. The most recent event deals with Turkish aid ships which were attacked by Israeli soldiers. Israel claims that the ships were in violation of international law. I think Peace is best achieved when when people do not use violence tactics. The countries will continue to argue when they continue to use violence.

ReplyDeleteAlthough Turkey along the history has been the most important Muslim ally for Israel, I think that the main motivations to resume the relations between the two countries are connected especially to commercial aspects that always result affected because of these kind of political tensions. In addition, being located in a region of the world where religion and politics go hand in hand, Israel precises preserving good relations with its neighbors and allies. At the same time Turkey is required to improve its economy and it is not able to afford damaging commercial links with the Jewish state or any other country. Realism has won again.
ReplyDelete"Realism has won again"... good observation, Nelson! :)
